Not Just a Movie, It Changed Me: Ranbir’s Emotional Goodbye to Lord Ram Role
Ranbir Kapoor was spotted fighting back tears as he completed shoot for Ramayana Part 1. The emotional shoot clip, where he was hugging his co-star Ravi Dubey, is trending. Ranbir was overheard saying that playing Lord Ram has changed his life. This glimpse has provided fans with the first proper glimpse of how huge and serious this movie is going to be.
Director Nitesh Tiwari is presenting the classic tale of Ramayana on the big screen in a manner never witnessed before. The movie is being made in two parts, and Part 1 is already complete. It will hit theaters during Diwali 2026, and Part 2 will hit theaters during Diwali 2027.
Its official trailer will be out on July 3, 2025. A special teaser is also on the cards, but the makers are keen to keep it back until they are convinced that the moment is perfect for its release. The teaser is three minutes long and features Ranbir and Sai Pallavi in it. Sources say that it is loaded with high-octane visuals and stunning VFX, but the team is willing to generate buzz slowly.
The film is being made on a record budget of around 500 to 600 crore rupees. The set alone has reportedly cost 11 crore. This could very well be India's most expensive film ever, and the team is leaving no stone unturned. Recently, a 7-minute showreel was shown to industry people, and those who have watched it say it left them shivering in their seats. They are calling it a box office hurricane in the making.
The star-studded cast of Ramayana consists of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. Hanuman is played by Sunny Deol. Lakshman is played by Ravi Dubey, while Amitabh Bachchan will play Jatayu. Arun Govil, who used to play Ram in the earlier TV series, is playing King Dasharath now. Kajal Aggarwal will play Mandodari, Rakul Preet will play Shurpanakha, and Lara Dutta will play Kaikeyi in other crucial roles.
The production too is of the highest quality. The visual effects are handled by DNEG, the same team which has handled a host of Oscar-winning Hollywood films. Music is being composed by two legends — Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman. With such stalwarts in place, the film is sure to offer both stunning visuals and unforgettable music.
So far, everyone is holding their breath to see what happens on July 3. That's when the producers will launch the official logo of the movie and begin the long trek to Diwali 2026. According to all accounts, Ramayana could be one of the biggest things in Indian cinema history.
